The Collector Wind Farm is located on the Cullerin Range between the Hume Highway and the Collector-Gunning Road in the NSW Southern Tablelands. This location was chosen because it is in one of the windiest regions in NSW (within one of six renewable energy precincts identified by the NSW Government), there is a strong grid connection point to export the clean power generated and the village of Collector is approximately 4km from the site. Stage 1 of the collector Wind Farm consists of 33 Wind Turbine Generators. Acciona engaged MAD3 Engineering (formerly McDowall Affleck) to deliver:
Scope Of Work
- Detailed Tender Design of Civil BOP including:
- Design of turbine access tracks
- Design of substation pad

- Uncertainty on reuse of cut to fill
How We Managed This
- Use of highly specialized resources familiar with Acciona’s standards and management
- Design of the road with excess cut
- Adoption of retaining structures (gabions) to avoid excessive earthworks
Value Engineering
- Optimized foundation design based on 15 years design experience worldwide
- Sensitive analysis on reusable material and provision of alternative scenarios to allow adequate risk assessment
