Chief Executive Officer
Stephen is the CEO and Director of MAD3 Engineering. He has over 30 years of experience in leadership roles, including 16 years at Chubb Security and 15 years at McDowall Affleck.
He is a results-oriented leader with a strong focus on employee development and client satisfaction. Stephen has a proven track record of success in strategic planning and execution, and has been recognized for his leadership with the Gary Affleck Employee of the Year award twice. He holds an MBA and has completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors course. Stephen is also an active community member, having served on various boards.

Ben Stockden
Senior Project Manager, Mechanical Designer
Ben joined MAD3 Engineering in 2006 as a Trainee Draftsman and has progressed steadily within the company. He holds a Diploma in Civil and Structural Engineering and has continuously upgraded his skills through various training courses.
He began his career as a draftsman, working on both civil and structural projects. He then transitioned to a Structural Designer, gaining experience in school, commercial, and industrial projects. In 2017, he joined the Mechanical team, leveraging his design and project management skills.
Ben has taken on increasing responsibilities, including Production Manager and currently, Senior Project Manager for the Mechanical group. He became an owner in 2021, demonstrating his commitment to the company's success.

Mauricio Saldias has a 25 years career in engineering design, construction support and engineering management in multiple locations around the globe. In his most recent role, he worked in opening the Australian market for a Chile-based EPCM company specialised in mining process infrastructure multidisciplinary engineering and design services.
His experience ranges from on-site technical process assistance, design and evaluation of major process infrastructure equipment, Process Lead Engineer, EPCM Engineering Manager for projects over 100m USD and Australia Country Manager/Business Development Manager.
Mauricio’s specific skills in engineering management include preparation of staff hours estimates and job planning, verification of design deliverables, tracking of progress and schedule, reporting, management of change and overall engineering leadership.
In his business development role, he built strong professional relationships that led to successful bids for jobs and helped deliver local projects to customer’s satisfaction.

Jurrien founded Deacon Engineers in 2009, specializing in mechanical and structural engineering for the mining, water, and waste sectors. With over 30 years of experience in mechanical design and manufacturing, he has brought Deacon’s capability into MAD3 Engineering as a leading engineering consultancy with expertise in FEA, fatigue, and fracture analysis.
His experience includes: Designing crushing plants, feeders, hoppers, cranes, and lifting equipment. Verifying quayside container cranes. Designing a 3000 tph mobile crushing plant. Solving critical plant reliability issues, including vibration and fatigue cracking. As Principal Engineer and Director, Jurrien leads client relationships, mentors engineers, and contributes to key design decisions. He is also a Director of MAD3 Engineering and an active member of the community.

Tim Elkington
Principal Mechanical Engineer
Tim has been with MAD3 Engineering since 2009 and is a Principal Mechanical Engineer. Tim is a specialist in pressure vessel design, design verification, fitness for service assessment, inspection, and regulations.
Tim has 25+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering design, fabrication, and installation of process and mechanical equipment. He has been involved with the engineering and management of significant engineering design and fabrication projects particularly within Western Australia for the mining, mineral processing, and oil & gas industries.
Tim commenced his career working in large manufacturing workshops producing boilers, pressure vessels, rolling stock, and mining equipment which provided invaluable experience in heavy plate fabrication, welding, non-destructive examination, and heavy machining. This experience is now applied not only in advanced design and assessment work but also in fitness for service assessments and specialist inspection as a certified AICIP inspector.
