Sewage Pump Stations Odour Control Systems – Water Utility

5x Water sewage pump stations in regional WA had reported excessive hydrogen sulfide gas levels, causing infrastructure and community issues.

Each sewage pump station required a vendor packaged carbon treatment system with integrated electrical control panel. MAD3 provided integration design including site layout, well air extract piping, odour treatment package slab / stack footing design, and electrical & control systems appraisal with specification of changes to existing cubicles.

Scope Of Work

  • Management of Concept Design by OEM including review of dispersion model for stack height optimisation
  • Generation of common P&ID to each site as per DS81
  • Mechanical design coordination of system specification, WC technical subject matter experts liaison, technical bid evaluation, Simple Design Report with requirements and outcomes, Project Specific Preliminaries (PSP) in abridged format to suit contracting of 2 separable portions for Broome and Geraldton, Appendix (AP) on drawings and principal supplied equipment, Schedule of Pricing (SoP), assessment of Safety in Design (SiD) and completion of template as designer.

Project Challenges

  • Former preferred package OEM not under consideration for this project
  • MAD3 Engineering unable to utilise a Water Corporation previously engaged local resource to supply critical information (fan size, size & required footprint for each treatment system and stack detail)
  • The height of the stack has also been a discussion point within the Water Corporation, with 6m to 14m height preferencing from various stakeholders
